Abstract:

2009年10月に始まった共同研究プロジェクト「日本語レキシコンの音韻特性」の中間報告を行う。このプロジェクトは，促音とアクセントを中心に日本語の音声・音韻構造を考察し，世界の言語の中における日本語の特徴を明らかにしようとするものである。促音については，主に外来語に促音が生起する条件およびその音声学・音韻論的要因を明らかにすることにより，日本語のリズム構造，日本語話者の知覚メカニズムを解明することを目指している。アクセントについては，韓国語，中国語をはじめとする他の言語との比較対照を基調に，日本語諸方言が持つ多様なアクセント体系を世界の声調，アクセント言語の中で位置づけることを目指している。本論文では本プロジェクトが明らかにしようとする問題点と近年の研究成果を総括する。

This paper reports on the progress of the collaborative research project ‘Phonological characteristics of the Japanese lexicon’, which was initiated in October 2009. This project investigates the phonetic and phonological aspects of Japanese with main focus on sokuon (geminate obstruents) and accent, with a view to clarifying the main characteristics of the language in comparison with other languages of the world. Regarding sokuon, the project attempts to illuminate the rhythmic structure of Japanese and the perceptual strategies that its native speakers employ, by revealing the linguistic conditions on sokuon in loanwords and their phonetic/phonological basis. Research on accent, on the other hand, studies the prosodic systems of a variety of Japanese dialects in comparison with those of other accent and tone languages in the world such as Korean and Chinese. This paper summarizes the main questions that this project aims to solve as well as some results of the recent research on the two topics.

Event Predications and Property Predications

Abstract:

基幹型共同研究「日本語レキシコンの文法的・意味的・形態的特性」における研究テーマの中から「事象叙述」と「属性叙述」の言語学的な区別に関する成果の一部を略述する。事象叙述とは，「いつどこで誰が何をした」のように時間の流れに沿って展開するデキゴト（動作，変化，状態など）を述べること，属性叙述とは「地球は丸い」のように主語あるいは主題となるモノの恒常的な特性を述べることである。従来は，両者の違いは単に意味解釈あるいは語用論の問題と見なされてきたのに対して，本稿では，属性叙述という意味の現象が実は，統語論・形態論という形の問題と深く関わる文法現象であることを様々な事例で実証的に示す。

This paper provides an interim report on the investigation into the linguistic significance of the distinction between event and property predications that is being carried out as part of Kageyama's collaborative research project “Syntactic, Semantic, and Morphological Characteristics of the Japanese Lexicon.” A variety of empirical data is provided to show that the function of property predication, which has been regarded merely as a matter of semantic or pragmatic interpretation, has direct repercussions on the syntactic and morphological structures of language.

言語変化は経年調査データから予測可能か？
Quantitative Prediction of Language Change with Longitudinal Survey Data

Abstract:

言語変化の経年調査データから将来の言語変化を数量的に予測するモデル（横山・真田2010）について紹介した。このモデルは「臨界期記憶＋調査年効果 → 共通語化」という図式にしたがって共通語化を説明・予測する。国立国語研究所が山形県鶴岡市を定点観測フィールドとして経年的に約20年間隔で過去3回実施した共通語化調査の大量データを，このモデルで解析した結果，アクセント共通語化などにおいて予測値と観測値が精度よく一致することが示された。

This paper discusses the validity of a new statistical model of language change proposed by Yokoyama and Sanada (2010) in an analysis of data on dialect standardization in Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture. This model supposes that a regional dynamic change in language reflects a change over the years in linguistic memory traces which accumulate in the brains of the local residents during their life.

Employing this model, Yokoyama and Sanada analyzed longitudinal survey data from Tsuruoka City, collected three times at twenty years intervals, and statistically confirmed that the increasing standardization of dialect shows a close fit between observed data and model predictions.
