Summary

The purpose of this project is to elucidate the psychological processes involved in communication.

Specifically, the project will focus on the comprehension (listening and reading) competence of Japanese non-native speakers (NNS). By interviewing NNS, asking what they comprehend when they listen or read Japanese sentences, the process of comprehension and the difficulties involved will be investigated In addition, research will also be carried out on the psychological process beyond comprehension, i.e. the interpretation and the assessment of the comprehended content.

The results of this research will be utilized in communication education.
